As a staple fibre spinning mill, Wagenfelder Spinnereien has been dealing with the topic of recycled carbon since 2016. Spinning recycled para-aramid fibres was already part of the spinning mill’s standard portfolio at that time.
It was therefore obvious to invest in the processing of recycled carbon fibres, as this high-priced high-performance fibre is ideally suited for a ‘second life’.
It soon became clear that processing the fibres into yarn would be a challenging task. The decades of experience of the employees resulted in consistent implementation and the technology was continuously improved and refined in a number of research projects.
A special hall was created for the production process in which the conductive carbon fibre can be processed.
